The Shitzu dogs come from the race Lhasa Apso. The history of the breed is unclear. It has a huge religious importance in Tibet, because it looks like a lion. It might have existed in China since the 3rd century. The breed is well represented in the Chinese tradition, with sculpture and writings about it. It was the privilege of the royal families, and because of this association, many of them were killed during the Chinese revolution. It’s name was made popular by the Canine Club Shi Tzu, which promoted the Breed in Europe and America, where it is already a popular dog.
