The Bichon Frise is an old race, and it was brought in France by the Tenerife sailors from the Canary Islands. It became the favorite dog of the French ladies. It was appreciated by classical painters also. It was used by circus masters because of their cute aspect, but it only benefited of recognition in 1930, when it got the current name.
