Basset hound puppies

The Basset Hound is an old race that comes from the French Basset de Artois. It was raised mainly by nobles, for hunting, but it wins popularity after the French Revolution. The Basset hound puppies that were brought in England at the beginning if the 18th century, were crossed with the Bloodhound for hunting purposes. Even George Washington received a Basset Hound from general La Fayette. Later, they were known more as company pets.

It is an average sized dog, with short legs. It has a strong bone structure, and a long body. The eyes are of average size, and the hair is short, soft and silky. There are more specific colors, but the most common ones are brown, white and black.
